Looking through Newton'S Telescope

For me, art is a personal journey incorporating both life experiences and growth. This journey began with an investigation of utilitarian design which evolved into an exploration of earthen creations. Nature has always been a major influence on my work. Recently, delving into my youthful memories of preternatural fauna has taken me from the depths of the Earth's oceans up into the abyss of the cosmos.

My own exploration of the cosmos is made possible by the questioning of the heavens, questioning which humans have been carrying out from the beginning of our existence. My interpretation of celestial forms wouldn't be possible without scientific discovery and the research done on its behalf. Unlike the ocean and its creatures (which I am able to experience first hand), it is through the efforts of countless astronomers creating and refining the telescope that I am able to encounter new inspiration. Technologies such as the Hubble space telescope manifest the depths of space, revealing stars, galaxies, gas forms, portals and time by employing filtration devices, exposing the most amazing visual images and conglomerations of form, color, and dimension. These images alone humble my everyday activity.

Without these images my imagination could not find expression in sculptural forms. These forms are a product of our environment, the intention being a simulation of inspirational nebulas such as Helix, Horse, Ring and the Dumbbell nebula - also known as NGC 6853 (Messier 27). The sculptural forms create an orbit through the utilization of material, color, form, transparence, reflection and shadow.
